  14.        _z_f_o_r_c_e  forces  a  .gz extension on all _g_z_i_p files so that
  15.        _g_z_i_p will not compress them twice.  This can be useful for
  16.        files with names truncated after a file transfer.  On sys-
  17.        tems with a 14 char limitation on file names, the original
  18.        name  is  truncated  to  make room for the .gz suffix. For
  19.        example, 12345678901234 is renamed  to  12345678901.gz.  A
  20.        file name such as foo.tgz is left intact.
